Petersfield Xmas Lights 2K14

Petersfield Xmas Lights 2K14

The Dark Side Assumedly because it was the only day Darth Vader could spare, Petersfield kicked in its xmas lights in the middle of November this year, to the delight of anyone under 7. Aerocam was there in case anything good happened. I was quite pleased with the slightly unrelated decision to get a crew of fictional storm troopers and a dark lord in to switch on some xmas lights – if had been some low-rent celebrity I wouldn’t have even bothered turning up. Indeed it wasn’t sociability that led me there, but rather wanting to try out some new camera gear and techniques, and to record the xmas lights, which are normally quite good. There and back again As it was, I kept being ejected from previously agreed filming positions by various official types, so having nowhere ideal to film from, didn’t bother staying to capture the actual switch-on, or whatever went on on-stage before it, but instead returned very late that night to complete my video with...

Airwheeling London – Westminster

Airwheeling London – Westminster

The first of many… trips to the capital, now that my Airwheeling skills are up to the challenge :) And I’m starting with what will become known as Home Base, or Ground Zero, Waterloo Station, and I’ll be working my way outwards from there. Today we take in the main concourse of the station itself, pause for a quick airwheel challenge then head out the back of the concourse towards the London Eye, then over a bridge and down through Westminster to check out the Houses of Parliament and more impressively I thought, Westminster Abbey. By then I was running seriously short on disk space, and only having one card with me had to come home with just an hour’s worth of footage. But despite some levels problems I was very pleased with what I got, and I had a great day out, too much fun, if anything, and felt my airwheel skills got a serious firmware upgrade into the bargain… Wheel master… As regular readers know, I am...

Airwheel vs Weather

Airwheel vs Weather

Slippery when wet… Yep, we’re back on my favourite South coast glide path, the smoothly tiled walkways that line the Southsea seafront, this time ranging from the war memorial, where we’ll stop for a seaside proximity / wet ride challenge, through Clarence Pier and the funfair, and beyond, almost to Gunwharf, but stopping short to film the water theatrics going on at jetty level. This gave me a solid hour+ of footage, and so editing it down has been really hard – the GoPro just kept recording things I wanted to slow down later :) Youtube goes 60FPS This is the first time I’ve been able to upload a video that remains 60 Frames / second by the time it appears on the site, so well done YouTube (at last!) I checked that was the case by quickly uploading this test footage – some mainly static shots from today’s ride that didn’t fit anywhere else. Worth it for the nice time-lapse at the end. GoPro++ And those 60 YouTube...

Swan Dives: Episode 4

Swan Dives: Episode 4

Four squared It’s Part 4 of Swan Dives, and there’s 4 hungry swans that want what’s in my bag. Originally I was filming for another video, and was airwheeling very slowly through lakeside areas heavily populated by birds, something that usually results in them moving out of the way with varying degrees of spectacularity, but today I was stopped dead in my wheely tracks by a full size adult swan that really wasn’t gonna move. So I slowly kneeled down, just a foot in front of him, kept the cam rolling and retrieved my box of swanly goodness from my back-back. Any hostility and front the swan was thinking about deploying in my general direction quickly disappeared as he realised that I had the platinum-standard of things to eat… Fight, fight, fight… Much to my disappointment, swans are quite hostile towards each other, even when there’s plenty to go around. Big males push their young and females alike out of the way to ensure they get the bulk of...

Tea, Cake & a View Episode 6: Halloween Special

Tea, Cake & a View Episode 6: Halloween Special

The Dark Side Prepare to be terrified, scAerocammers, as we journey to the darkside of the skate park armed only with a GoPro3+, a Waitrose Lemon Yum Yum, and a Fenix PD35 Light of God. Also genuine ghost footage. You can tell yourself it’s not real, but it is. The Lemony Center The Yum Yums score… well I don’t want it to spoil the ending for you, but it’s a predictably good result for our lemony friends… Please note that contrary to what it says in the video, this episode was not, in fact, sponsored by Waitrose (bakery counter staff or otherwise), no xmas fund theft has taken place, and indeed it’s fair to say they didn’t see this one coming, and certainly didn’t ask for it, let alone pay for it, so that’s all fine. The Shameless blag However if Waitrose now want to send me a massive crate of YumYums, or Macarons in appreciation of my diligence in reviewing, or indeed in gratitude for general brilliance, that’s...
