Drive-by Flyings Episode 5

… in which we combine 4 days flyings into 1, because I’ve had to go rain-dodging, and grab the odd flight here and there in between bouts of British weather. Notably I haven’t managed to avoid the wind, so join me as we get buffeted around the countryside and take in a lovely view or two along the way…

These are the flights with my brand new set of Graupner Electros, following the horrible crash in the quarry, held down with star washers to see if that kills prop slip. On reflection I think it probably does. Have also tweaked the gains a bit while I had the props off, and not sure I have done entirely good things there. Oh well – will have to redo it anyway when I add the new cam mount and landing gear…

Talking of which, as my TPPacks Isolation cam mount is slowly dying, as can be seen in various bits of footage here,  fortunately I am already building its replacement, which I hope will be tons better, but in actuality will probably be ‘slightly better’, or ‘worse’. It’s an XAircraft CM-GP twin servo mount, and should get me extra smooth video and give me camera angle control in flight. We’ll see how that goes…

Also debuting in these vids is my new field monitor allowing me FPV action without the goggles, meaning I can have nice, lawful eyes-on contact with craft, but also compose views better, see my controls, and don’t need a spotter to do FPV safely. I do still need people to carry stuff though.

OK, so places featured here are Butser (SE slope), Lytton Lane, Stoner Hill, Petersfield Skate Park, Petersfield Taro Center fields, Petersfield Riverside fields.

Soundtrack promotionally donated by lovely lovely Hayley Williams (and band) with her classic man-manipulation masterpiece ‘Misery Business’, which hasn’t got anything lyrically to do with this week’s flyings, but did make editing more interesting, I like the middle 8, and if I’m going to have my manhood manipulated by anyone, it should definitely be her…

More flying today if the weather holds… I think I feel a golf course coming on…

See you next time, as I didn’t say in the video…
